The bar was set high with Executive Remote Worker’s maiden voyage! On a beautiful summer day in Croatia, six members of the Executive Remote Worker community joined two crew members from 45 Degrees Sailing for our very first coworking trip. We set sail from Trogir, Croatia, spending 8 days and 7 nights aboard a 55-foot sailing yacht.
Location
We embarked on an unforgettable journey along the stunning Croatian coast, starting from Trogir and exploring various islands and coves.
Time of Year: Summer
Duration: 8 Days & 7 Nights
Experiences and Excursions
Our non-working hours were filled with amazing experiences and adventures, making this a trip of a lifetime. Here are some highlights:
Daily Water Activities: Swimming, snorkeling, diving, rock-climbing, cliff jumping, and paddle boarding in crystal-clear waters.
Music and Relaxation: Singing, playing, or listening to music, enjoying local beer or wine, and building friendships.
Exploring Towns: Docking in new towns each evening, exploring local cafes, and indulging in delicious gelato.
We also enjoyed these more local and authentic experiences:
Learning to Sail: The crew taught us how to help sail the boat, adding an educational and interactive element to our trip.
Business Discussions: Engaging in conversations about business ideas and sharing personal and professional stories with fellow remote workers.
Accommodations
Living aboard a 55-foot sailing yacht was an adventure in itself. Our yacht was spacious, well-equipped, and provided a unique blend of comfort and excitement.
Proximity: Always close to the stunning Croatian coastline and charming towns.
Layout: The yacht featured comfortable cabins, a well-equipped kitchen, and ample deck space for relaxation and work.
Kitchen: Freshly made breakfasts and delicious French press coffee were highlights of our mornings.
Other Amenities: Redundant internet from multiple service providers, a generator, and batteries ensured we had power and connectivity.
Connectivity and Infrastructure
Working remotely while sailing was made possible with the robust infrastructure provided by 45 Degrees Sailing.
Internet: We had solid, reliable internet whenever we were near land, thanks to cell towers. Even at sea, we had sufficient power from batteries and a generator.
Electricity: Reliable and consistent, especially when docked in marinas.
Hot Water: Ample hot water for refreshing showers after a day of adventure.
Workspace Options
Our sailing yacht offered a variety of workspaces, both inside and out.
Inside the Yacht: Comfortable cabins with desks and a quiet below-deck area for focused work.
Outside the Yacht: Work above deck while enjoying incredible views and fresh air.
Local Cafes and Marinas: Opportunities to work in local cafes or from the marina when docked.
Our Itinerary
We explored several stunning locations, from vibrant towns to serene coves:
Trogir: Starting point with charming streets and historical architecture.
Island Hopping: Visited various islands and coves, each offering unique beauty and experiences.
The Wrap Up
It was hard to say goodbye to each other in Croatia. However, we took solace in knowing we made lifelong friendships and memories.
Our goals for the week were to enjoy the beautiful sun and pristine waters of the Adriatic Sea, learn about sailing and life on the Croatian islands, meet and get to know other members of the community, and pressure-test remote working from a sailing yacht.
